Indigo Costume by Kawaiinekochi

One of the more rare costumes you will see is “Indigo”. However it is the more rare things that can look the most fun! Here a cosplayer decided to try out this adorable look when a friend asked her to dress as Indigo to partner with her “Rainbow Brite” costume.

This cosplayer is not unfamiliar with costumes having completed over 15 diverse looks from Mulan from Disney, or Sailor Mercury from Sailor Moon. Indigo is just another wonderful challenge for this talented costumed player.

Name: Janet (Kawaiinekochi)

Interview with Janet “Kawaiinekochi” , Indigo Cosplayer

1: Tell us about yourself?

Janet: I am a 27 year old college graduate who loves to create. I love to make plushies, greeting cards, and costumes (with help, of course).

2: Where are you from?

Janet: Orlando, Florida.

3: You do a lot of Anime costumes, do you have a favorite Anime you watch? Are there any other animated films or shows that inspire you?

Janet: I have done 15 costumes since I started cosplaying in 2004. Some are not from Anime, like Indigo. My favorite Anime is Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal (it’s technically an OVA, but it’s based on Rurouni Kenshin). I am going to cosplay Tomoe from Samurai X for a convention next year.

4: Did you grow up watching Rainbow Brite, the TV show, or were you impressed by the movie?

Janet: I watched it when I was four or five year old, so I can’t recall too much of it. I probably liked it because I had a Rainbow Brite doll.

5: Favorite Episode or quote you would like to share?

Janet: Unfortunately, I don’t have any.

6: You created the costume for Indigo, a character not as well known, but not to be over looked. What made you decide to dress as her?

Janet: My friend convinced me to dress as her because I look like her and my friend wanted to dress as Rainbow Brite.

7: Is it handmade? Or did you use store bought items?

Janet: 100% Handmade

8: Did you use your own hair or extensions?

Janet: It’s my hair.

9: What is your favorite part of the costume?

Janet: The vest.

10: What was the most difficult?

Janet: I had issues sowing the pants because the fabric was so slippery.

11: How much would you say the costume cost in all?

Janet: I’d say less than $20.00.

12: Is it comfortable to wear?

Janet: Very comfortable!

13: Is it difficult to clean?

Janet: The shirt and pants are not hard to clean, but the vest might be an issue.

14: If you had to make it over, what would you change about it?

Janet: I want to fix my shirt. It was a little short. However the waistband on the pants helps cover it.

15: Rainbow Brite is making a come back with a new design, but one of the colors that isn’t returning is “Indigo”, if you could introduce a new character to take her place, what character would that be?

Janet: Aww, that’s too bad. I want the new character to be a “blue-based” character. How about Teal? Teal is a pretty name too!

I thank you for taking the time to answer these questions, and have a Rainbow Day
